My Name Sake

I was born July 18, 1983 and my parents decided to name me after my grandmothers. Dorothy Jordan Jones and Marian Newkirk Love. So I then was named Jordan Newkirk Jones. I love my grandparents so much and on July 16, 2013 my Grandma Jones who's name I bear passed away from a fall in front of her home. It is extremely hard for me because first off I love her very much and she was the epitome of what a lady could/should be. She was always classy and dressed up even if she was just going to the doctor.

The other reason that it is so hard to see her go was because on that Sunday prior to her death Emily and I were getting ready to go to Bear Lake for our vacation with my family; and we had recently returned from Oregon and had made some homemade blackberry freezer jam. We decided that we should take a container to her (she loved blackberries) and visit for a few minutes before we left town. After calling her on the phone the night before to set a time when she would be home, we went over there and she was at church. (I had miscalculated the time that she would return home). She wouldn't return home for another 30 to 45 mins so we decided to leave the Jam and a note and try to return later to visit before we left.

Well as life is, we got busy and I was in too much of a rush to go and stop by and we never got to go and say anything to her.  I kick myself now for not going back and taking the time to sit and visit with her. How my heart sank when I heard that she had fallen and hit her head. The tears and the emotions I felt were too much. I wanted so much to see her face once more smile at me and say how good I looked and how proud of me she was. I wanted to let her she her granddaughter one more time. At the same time I wanted to crawl into a hole because of the guilt I felt for not staying that extra few minutes when I could have.

I am glad now that she is back with her dear husband and that they can once again embrace and be at each other's side. I have a lot of life left to live but I will cherish the day when I can see her again and tell her how sorry I am for not keeping my word and how glad I am that she got to at least hear my voice once more over the phone before she departed.

A Baby? ... A BABY GIRL!

Okay ... for those who don't follow my life on facebook that much or who aren't in my immediate family, you probably haven't heard that Emily and I found out that we are going to have a girl in may. We are so excited and everyone we know has asked us if we know for sure that it is a girl. Well ... we have been into our doctor for our official ultrasound (20 week mark) and also we are participating in a first time pregnancy study at the hospital that gets us 3 extra ultrasounds over the course of the pregnancy, and to top it all off when Emily hit her 15 week mark we went to a commercial ultrasound place to get the gender then as well. So needless to say it has been checked 4 times since the 15 week mark. We do have a few names picked out but not quite sure which one we are going to use until we see her.

In the next few days I am going to scan and put some of the ultra sound pictures up on this blog for all of you to see.

Emily and I had such a great Christmas this year. We didn't have much to spend on each other but we did get quite a few baby things from parents and friends. We are so grateful that everything is going well in Emily's pregnancy. Hopefully everything will continue to well and everything will run smoothly and normally.

My new years resolution... Keep my wife healthy and happy!

The Cowardly Lion of my Mind

One of the many things that I struggle with is the realtionship with my family. To make a very long story short, they just don't seem to trust me and though I am not the most perfect person they still don't give me the trust I think I deserve. Also for some reason I don't have the best relationship with my father. To be totally honest, it is like he is afraid to have a relationship with me; and although he is the owner of the company that I work for, the things that we talk about at work do not count as a personal conversation. Yes, I have made many attempts to try and make a connection with him, but it is like there is nothing there for him to be interested in. I try to talk about business and ask him questions but then we just end up talking about work and how I can be better or how I need to learn more and improve myself. All I really want is for him to ask me how I am and be interested in what I do. Even if he isn't interested, the effort makes all the difference in the world. Sometimes I think he is affraid that I will dislike him for being honest about not liking what I am interested in. When in reality I would rather have him tell me that he doesn't like or is ignorant about any of the things that I do then let me go on thinking that he just isn't interested in me. I try so hard to go out there and do what I can but the cowardly lion of my mind just gets eaten by the fear of rejection and it runs and hides for while until it can poke its head out again.

Blonde or Brunette

So Saturdays tend to be very odd now-a-days with me attending UVU classes. What use to be a day of relaxing and catching up on laundry and just getting a few things done, is now a day where we go to school and try to spend a few minutes doing homework for the classes that I have due on monday. Well, today was even a bit different from that becuase Emily's mother and younger brother came down from Vernal to spend the day. Emily's plan was to take her mom to the student spa and do a treatment on her and then come back and hang out a bit before they had to leave to go home.

As is typical with her family they didn't arrive until almost 2:00 pm and they decided to go to lunch and then take and go to Sally's Beauty Supply store. Well, when they got back to the house Emily announced that they were going to bleach Emily's hair try to get her to be a blonde. So they began the process of bleach and proxide and color. Finally when 2:00 am rolled around Emily's hair had gone from a Dark Auburn Brown to an almost Orange hue.

By then they had to call it quits for the night but that is not where the story ends. In the morning Emily had her mom take her back to the Sally's to get more product so that they could even out the color and try to at least get it to a reasonable blonde shade. After another treatment of color and proxide were done she ended up as a medium blonde with alot of red undertones.

Though I am not to keen on blondes I think that I will eventually come to like the new color on her. I just hope that we son't have anymore overnight bleaching escapades.

Busy, Busy, Busy!

Sometimes things in life get in the way and then there are times when the things that are helping you live get in the way as well. Yesterday was a very busy day. Over the last couple of months I have been working on a book alyout for a good friend of mine. He has written a second edition to his book and he asked me to do the entire layout of it.  It has been an amazing project. He has been writing about credit scores and the credit industry. I would tell more about it but it hasn't been published yet. When it is I will be putting a link to buy it on my blog. It is something that I am very proud to put my name on.

Well, anyway, last night I was trying to get it finished so that he can do his final edits. After those edits are done then we will be able to send it to the printer for production. So I basically stayed up until about 2:00 in the morning finishing it. It was exhausting and very rewarding to finish it and finally have the bulk of the project over with. Only time will tell if my design has helped make his book successful. (I sure hope so.)

Just like the title of this blog says, I am very very busy. I have to go to class and listen to another teacher talk through his syllabus. I will write another post today to make up for the one that I missed last night.

TTYL!
